Frequently Asked Questions
I wanted to answer some questions that I'm asked often, or questions I know I'm going to be asked often, just to cover those bases before I have to run them. :)

How can we be sure you're going to shave your head?
I'm going to have it videotaped and uploaded for everyone to see! I'll also announce the time and date for people in the city to attend if they want to. The arrangements for place have already been made, and I'll be having my head shaved at HairWaves, across from Silver City theater on Memorial Avenue.

How do we know the money is going to New Hope Dog Rescue?
It's understandable for people to be suspicious, so don't feel bad for wondering this. If it would make you feel more comfortable, you can contact New Hope from their website. They've already been informed of this campaign. I've also checked with our police department and our city licensing division to make sure I'm not breaking any laws and am doing everything in the right order. I've also asked that all cheques be made payable to New Hope Dog Rescue, not to be made out in my name. The paypal donations will simply be transfered from my paypal account to New Hopes once the campaign is over.

Why did you choose New Hope Dog Rescue?
I had a hard time picking one, actually. I almost went in favor of another rescue, but the fact that New Hope works with Animal Services to save as many lives as possible was what finally convinced me. Our dog Max was adopted from Animal Services, and was saved just in the nick of time from being put down. I want to help other dogs escape what Max escaped.

What are you getting out of this?
A lot! I get to be happy that I'm responsible for a few more dogs being fixed and not adding to the overpopulation problem. I get the satisfaction of knowing a few more dogs are saved and provided loving homes. I get the joy of knowing that New Hope can keep helping animals and that I contributed.

In terms of financial, absolutely nothing .. actually, a negative, lol. I'm spending my own money for print outs, donation jars (the jars, the labels, etc), ink cartridges, and other odds and ends I need to do this right. Also, a lot of my time is being spent running to and from businesses, keeping this webpage updated, and it's all 100% worth it!!!

July 16, 2009 - The interview with CBC Radio was to air sometime today or tomorrow, but I don't know an exact time. So if you happen to catch it, I'd love to know how it sounded, lol. Thank you so much to CBC Radio for their time and interest. The more people that hear about this, the more money I can raise for New Hope!

Don't Shop, Adopt!
So you want to bring a dog into your family? Maybe you have an idea in mind already for the perfect dog for you, and maybe you've seen a few ads on Kijiji or Craigslist you're thinking about responding to. After all, $600 for a purebred Goldendoodle isn't too bad, is it?

Think beyond the money for a few minutes and beyond just this one dog. Where does it come from? What impact does it's very life have on the rest of the dog population? Who is profiting off the sale of these dogs? By spending the money, what kind of practices are you supporting?
